Founder of award-winning Roger Brooks International, Inc., and the Destination Development Association, Roger is author of the books "Your Town: A Destination—The 25 Immutable Rules of Successful Tourism," and the upcoming book "The 20 Ingredients of an Outstanding Downtown," both of which highlight lessons learned, boots on the ground experience, and years of extensive research.
As one of the industry's foremost authorities on downtowns, tourism, branding, community development and marketing, Roger's practical approach has helped communities around the world become more successful for businesses, visitors, and residents. A past Board member of the U.S. Travel Association, he is one of the most recognized and frequently quoted experts in the field—a field that includes almost everything that makes a city, town, province, county or state a better place to live, work and visit.
Roger has worked in more than 45 U.S. states, across Canada, in Western Europe, Scandinavia, and Mauritius, offering guidance, presentations, developing branding, development and marketing plans, increasing tourism, and offering destination assessments. With the founding of the Destination Development Association, Roger is able to realize his goal of providing much of his extensive experience, ideas, and recommendations to communities through online memberships.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Roger was initially recruited to help turn around, brand, and market several popular destination resorts, including Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; Sunriver Resort in Central Oregon; and Whistler Resort in British Columbia, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics, plus many others. Over the years, he has recruited more than $2.8 billion in new private-sector development to resorts and rural communities. He founded Roger Brooks International, and his work throughout the world continues to grow.
